We are delighted to welcome Justine Allain Chapman as our new Director of Pastoral Studies and Tutor in Practical Theology. Justine is bringing with her a wealth of experience of theological education and ministry in the wider Church.

Justine is currently ministering as the Archdeacon of Boston in the Diocese of Lincoln where alongside the responsibilities for resourcing the ministry and mission of the parishes she has over the last decade been the lead for discipleship, ministry and is currently the chair of the Board of Education.

Justine started out in ministry as a curate in South East London and then a vicar in South West London, having been head of Religious Studies at a multi-faith secondary school in North London. She later worked as Director of Mission and Pastoral Studies at what is now St Augustine’s College. While there she did her doctoral research at King’s College London, developing a pastoral theology of resilience drawing on the wisdom of the desert, Rowan Williams and Henri Nouwen.

Justine says: “As a pastor and teacher at heart, I am delighted to be coming to join ERMC. I hope to bring to bear a wide range of ministerial experience in the service of those forming for new ministries. Having been brought up in Hertfordshire, been to school in Bedfordshire and having a long-standing love of Norfolk I feel a sense of homecoming and excitement looking to this new chapter of life and ministry.”

Justine is going to start her position with us on 11th August in time for the Summer School.
