ERMC at the Societas Liturgica Congress 2023

Here’s a short blog from Charles Read, our Director of Liturgy, who joined the Societas Liturgica Congress in Dublin this month.

“This photo is of three ERMC tutors at the 2023 congress of Societas Liturgica, the international and ecumenical Society for the study of Christian worship. The Congress took place in Saint Patrick’s College Maynooth, near Dublin this last week and was attended by about 200 scholars and practitioners from around the world. We think that ERMC had the greatest number of staff there from any college or seminary anywhere in the world! The Congress theme was liturgy and ecumenism, which was addressed through four plenary papers and a large array of seminars. During the Congress, there was also a meeting of Anglican members from around the world which our three tutors attended.

“The photo shows Coryn Stanforth, an associate tutor, myself and Kirsty Borthwick who is just joining us as an associate tutor. We are grateful to Dr Phillip Tovey from the Diocese of Oxford for taking the photograph, which he described as ‘a photograph of two intelligent women plus Charles Read’. (We were at theological college together…).”
