New Principal

We are delighted to announce the appointment of the Revd Dr Alexander (Alex) Jensen as Principal for the Eastern Region Ministry Course.

Born in Hamburg, Germany in 1968, Alex studied Theology at Tübingen, Durham and Oxford. After working in a parish in the North-East of England, he became Lecturer in Divinity at the Church of Ireland Theological College and Trinity College, Dublin. Since 2005, he has been Senior Lecturer in Systematic Theology at Murdoch University, Western Australia, a joint appointment with the Perth Theological Hall of the Uniting Church in Australia. He served as Principal at the Perth Theological Hall from 2006-2012.

Alex’s scholarly interests cover hermeneutics, the doctrine of God and creation. He has published widely in these areas. His most recent book Divine Providence and Human Agency: Trinity, Creation and Freedom was published by Ashgate Publishers last year.

Alex is married to Helen, and they have 2 young children, Johannes (6) and Sophie Charlotte (8).

The Rt Revd Richard Atkinson, Bishop of Bedford and Chair of ERMC Council said “I am very much looking forward to working with Alex, who will bring to ERMC a wealth of experience, including significant theological and academic standing. He is the right person to lead ERMC at this time of opportunity and change in theological training.”
